New York's top lawyer, Letitia James, has brought forth a major lawsuit against Donald Trump.

James' data says Trump's real worth might be up to 39% less than he announced for ten straight years. In simpler terms, this could mean he overstated his wealth by about $1 billion almost every year.

Some of these overstatements, the lawsuit suggests, happened even when Trump was the U.S. president. There's a court case coming up in two months. It's not just against Trump but also his business and his two sons, Donald Jr. and Eric.

The big question? Did the Trump family use these possibly inflated numbers to trick banks and insurers? If Judge Arthur Engoron agrees with James, the case will still move forward to explore other issues.

James asks two main things: Were Trump's yearly money statements inflated? And did he use these inflated numbers in his businesses often? According to her, the answer to both is a clear 'yes'. She feels there's enough evidence to prove this without a full-blown trial.

Even though Trump's defense team has 13 experts, James believes the financial papers make the truth pretty obvious. She claims these documents show Trump's assets might not be worth as much as he says.

In short, this case is about whether Trump exaggerated his wealth and if he used these numbers to his advantage. The trial will shed more light on these claims.
